My "Community" gouache and ink drawing is at the Special Juried Exhibition at The State Museum of Pennsylvania..
It may be below freezing outside, but things are heating up at home in the studio with new drawings and paintings in the works. If you want to check one of my latest artworks, it will be on display at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in a Juried Art Exhibition. The piece in the museum is a mixed-media gouache and ink drawing called "Community." The show is up for 2 months in Harrisburg, PA, and opens on February 6th. I hope you check it out.

I am proud and honored to say, my drawing "Bunnyman" is in the show! Check it out in this beautiful exhibition space. The exhibit displays 77 artworks by artists who submitted from all over the country.
I will be unable to attend the opening reception, but I am sure it will be a great time with much to see. Please check out the show and my drawing.

~UPDATE~
On June 10th, writer Kathleen Daminger of the Intelligencer Journal/Lancaster New Era reviewed the show and had this to say about my artwork:
"To find either bunny or man in Miles Halpern's boldly designed and brightly colored "Bunny Man" is a playful exercise in futility."
Playful exercise in futility...what a delightful description.

My "Will I" painting is on exhibit at the Whitaker Center of Science and the Arts
If you are in the Harrisburg, PA area, please stop by the Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts. I am honored to have one of my oil paintings entitled: "Will I" on exhibit in the juried exhibition "Art as Emotion," presented by the Susquehanna Art Museum.
This juried exhibition will be on display at the Whitaker Center from April 2 – June 11, 2010.
Below is a press-release for the show:
"Art as Emotion presents a group of talented artists interpreting the subject of Emotion through a variety of art media. Regardless of the style - realism or expressionism, abstract or conceptual, visual artists often regard emotion in itself to be the subject of work. Powerful and direct expressions of emotion are shown in all genres of the visual arts: paintings depicting the horror of war, photographs which carry the grief of a mother at the death of a child, sculpture which conveys the delight of a celestial dancer. This exhibition will communicate the diversity of emotion, providing viewers with a resonating experience."
I hope you enjoy the show!

Welcome
Welcome to the newly designed website for the artwork of Miles Halpern, presented by myself, Miles Halpern :).
I am really proud of the new functionality and look of the site. The new site will make it easy for me to frequently change or update content, post announcements, and provide visitors with a forum for asking questions, commenting, and learning about my work and process. None of this would have been possible without my good friend Ethan Jordan of www.dibbesdesign.com, who was kind enough to build this site for me.
So, welcome, and stay tuned!
~Miles
